A church may have a humble beginning, but if it is based on faith in God through Jesus Christ his Son, it will weather the storms of human disappointment, hardships, and critical words from the doubting crowds. "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there shall I be also." These few words from the Bible have led many small groups of people to organize for spiritual worship.

Greetings In the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

There is a wonderful song in our hymnal, “This Is a Day of New Beginnings” on page 383. It is a hymn for many “new beginnings.”
It goes like this, verse one: “This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that’s gone.”
New Friends, this is a time of new beginnings. As of July 1, we, together will be a
new Charge. We will have a sister church the Otterbein UMC in Sunbury and we will be for all intents and purposes in the conference the Northumberland/Sunbury Charge. Believe me, I truly understand how hard it will be to say goodbye (or later) to relationships that have been forged over the years.
Verse two: “For by the life and death of Jesus, God’s mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference, as faith and hope are born again.” Friends, we live as Christians by the “life and death of Jesus.” We call often on God’s mighty Spirit to guide and guard us, so we can make a world of difference to others, to the community, to the church, as faith and hope continue to be born again.
Verse three: “Then with the Spirit’s daring, step from the past and leave behind our disappointment, guilt, and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find.”
This is OUR TIME! Now! Today! Tomorrow! Please rest assured that as a new Charge we will NOT lose our individual identities. Trinity UMC will BE Trinity! Otterbein UMC will BE Otterbein! We will strive to be as our Bishop Park has themed for our Susquehanna Annual Conference - to be “Better Together.”
It is my joy and privilege to be appointed to this new charge, the Northumberland/Sunbury Charge. To come to Trinity UMC in Northumberland and Otterbein UMC in Sunbury!
Verse four: “Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.”
Let us never forget to keep our focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He does indeed go before us. He will indeed share with us, He will show us what love can do.
God has blessed me with a wonderful opportunity for ministry when He put me here with Trinity and Otterbein! I hope you will feel blessed as well.

Praise God! This is a time for new beginnings!

Blessings,
Pastor Leslie
